I dunno, I'm not very pleased with the "STR" idea because the verbose version string is also a string. Documenting "S" as meaning "short" would dodge that objection.
You have to necessary read doc to understand this, and I don't think so it is good idea.
So SERVER_VERSION_NAME looks like best solution to me.
