option is to use my company's software to be able to write your apps with
nearly any dialect of Sql and run it against nearly any RDBMS engine.
(Oracle, Postgres, Sybase, Db2 and Informix are presently certified.) So,
you write once, run anywhere - unique features and embeded code not
withstanding, of course. With this toolset, you can also have an app that
talks to multiple database types simultaneously. The system includes the
option to journal on either client or server side and the journals can be
played back against a database of a different RDBMS type - including blob
and clob support, and time support with minute offset from GMT (developed
for scientific applications). Only two hitches; the library that does this
magic is written in Java, and, it's not free. -smile-
