What were you expecting to see, the query from the main form? If so, see File -> Options -> Query -> 'Copy SQL from main form to SQL dialogue'. If something else, please explain :-) -- Dave Page EnterpriseDB UK: http://www.enterprisedb.com

It sounds like your window layout got messed up somehow. -- Dave Page EnterpriseDB UK: http://www.enterprisedb.com
Hi,
Sorry, I'll elaborate: there is no editable textarea present so you can't type anything in.

This happens independently of the context (database selected/table selected) or how I get to the window (Click the button with the tooltip 'Execute Arbitrary SQL Queries' as well as Tools -> Query Tool menu item)

Thanks, but no change in behaviour after doing that.
One extra clue: for the last few months normally invisible newlines in the sql pane have shown up with a funny character glyph. Might not be related at all.

layout got messed up somehow.
Thanks, but no change in behaviour after doing that.
One extra clue: for the last few months normally invisible newlines in the sql pane have shown up with a funny character glyph. Might not be related at all.

No - that's normal (if the code changes, we use a new setting). -- Dave Page EnterpriseDB UK: http://www.enterprisedb.com

Odd. Try removing (renaming) your preferences file (~/.pgadmin3) and
then start pgAdmin
Great! Both problems fixed now that I removed the preference file.
FWIW here is a before and after of the relevant section... I haven't been able to narrow down the problem any more than this... maybe it's the duplicate perspective entry?
