== PostgreSQL Weekly News - August 21 2005 == Greg Sabino Mullane found an odd bug in PL/Perl, and the fix is even odder. http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-bugs/2005-08/msg00133.php Andrew Dunstan found a bug in IPv6 on Windows, and Chuck McDevitt of Greenplum is going to try making a patch next week. 8.1 is going beta. New features include: * Autovacuum moved from contrib/ to the main server * Improved SMP performance from removing global shared buffer lock. * Bitmap indexing * 2-phase commit * OUT and INOUT parameters for functions * Improved PL/Perl * Shared row locks Kudos to all who have helped make this happen. Please test thoroughly. Upgrade releases for the 8.0, 7.4, 7.3 and possibly the 7.2 series will be out in the next week or two.
