Hi

Has anyone any experience whether it is possible to build with a PostgreSQl
database and a linux box a search engine for a portal?

Check out the biography serach at www.infoplease.com/people.html

This is done with postgresQL and php.  Of course, it's not a complete
or general search, but it does work

I found the document about installing Apache/PostgreSQL/PHP3.
Maybe you want to check it out. See:
