Thread: PostgreSQL installation and setup

I'm a complete newbie to both PostgreSQL and Linux.

I want to set up PostgreSQL on my Linux system but am at a complete loss to
know where to start. I've installed PostgreSQL from the PostgreSQLv6.4.2
RPM file on my Linux-Mandrake v6.0.

As I'm not familiar with a lot of Linux terminology I'm struggling with the
initial installation.

Can you point me in the right direction please.
