Thread: PostgreSQL and Journaled File Systems
Hi All, What is the word about using PG with journaled file systems? I have heard that it's best to not have the PG journal in a journaled system to avoid double journaling. Can someone that understand the issues involved (performance, reliability) please shed some light on the issue? Journaling file contents is redundant --- turn that off if you can. (Of course, if there is anything other than Postgres files on the same device, you may not want to turn off contents journalling...) regards, tom lane
