Sometime ago, I gathered that there be whitelinks to other data stores, so that dynamic and very fast data exchange can happen.

Has anyone got experience with it?

Do you mean foreign data wrappers? See e.g.: https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/ddl-foreign-data.html
